fdForge 2.0 Update: Migration to AWS, Custom Entities Extension, and Out-of-the-Box Registration

fdForge 2.0 Update: Migration to AWS, Custom Entities Extension, and Out-of-the-Box Registration

On July 1, an update of our main product - low-code business process automation platform fdForge was released, which included more than 30 innovations and technical improvements.

As a reminder, fdForge is a system used by hundreds of businesses around the world as a basis for automating internal and external company processes. Due to a large amount of pre-build modules and a flexible integration system, fdForge allows you to significantly accelerate the launch of the first version of the project, simplify the start of operation and saving the budget of the project.

New architecture

So, what exactly have changed in the second major release of the platform? First of all, fdForge 2.0 is an update of the project architecture, a new approach to project deployment, based on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure.

Project structure on fdForge 2.0

And although these are thousands of technical changes in the project, we will try to clearly describe what advantages 2.0 provides for end users:

A new level of security

A new algorithm for storing passwords and personal data further increases the level of security on the platform. A clear organization of accesses at the technical level allows you to control all information flows.

Flexible scalability

Now fdForge (which used to be able to serve thousands of requests per second) scales even better with the project growth - we have the opportunity to optimally use the computing resources of the infrastructure and increase them only where it is really needed.

Serving media-materials

The process of storing user files - documents, photos and video materials - has been optimized (and actually completely rewritten). The new approach allows you to control file downloads, speed up their processing and implement clear file access control.

Simplifying updates

While the system upgrade process used to take minutes with minimal platform downtime, we have now been able to achieve the upgrade process without interrupting service to users.

So fdForge 2.0 is a significantly changed technical base that provides many important benefits for users. But, in addition to this, we have added several functional features that expand the capabilities of the platform as well.

Out-of-the-box registration

The fdForge platform has long had the ability to flexibly configure authorization forms for different types of users (clients and sellers, managers and partners, etc.). The administrator could quickly adjust the rules and fields by which authorization of each of the groups was carried out. From now on, it is possible to quickly modify the user registration process in the platform, supplementing it with new fields, or disabling a certain part of them. This approach allows flexible A/B testing to be held, determining the balance between conversion and the required amount of customer information.

Import of entities structure

From now on, the system administrator, together with the business analyst, can define all the entities (users, products, deals) that take part in the company's business processes, fill in the property template of these entities and import them all into fdForge in a few clicks. This approach significantly reduced the period of initial configuration of the platform.

Ability to import the entity structure into the system

Added Ukrainian localization of the interface ??

Previously, we carried out the Ukrainian localization of the fdForge admin interface individually on each project. From now on, the Ukrainian language is added to the list of basic languages for the fdForge administration panel interface.

Among other changes that were also included in the release, there are following worth noting:

  • Improvement of the interface and the logic of working with user contacts;
  • Extension of mailing and communications logging;
  • Improvement of the user card;
  • Possibility of manual synchronization of exchange rates;
  • Fixes and upgrades in the process of importing translations;
  • Changing in the process of working with directories;
  • Fixes in integration with communication channels;
  • The speed of entity reindexing has been increased;
  • Fixes in the multilingual interface of the admin panel.

It is important to note that the 2.0 release is not backward compatible with previous versions of the platform.
